I have a Droid Pro on the Verizon network, and occasionally it will go into sleep mode after bringing it out. When I unlock the screen to bring it out of sleep it will go back into sleep mode after a couple seconds. It does this 4-5 times in a row then its fine. Is this a software/settings problem or something wrong with the hardware? I figured i'd ask here before standing in line and talking to 10 different people at Verizon for hours...

It might be a software glitch. You should let Verizon look at it.

Sounds like some sort of software glitch.

Has it always done it? Is it rooted?

I would suggest that you reset it...that is most likely what the folks at the Verizon store will do anyway. If you go that route, then use something like MyBackup or MyBackupPro to backup (most of) your settings, text messages, etc. You don't need it to backup the apps as you will be able to download those from the Android Market again...unless you have stuff that is NOT from the Android Market. You also will not need to backup the contacts or calendar if you have a Google account and syncing setup.

When Sprint/HTC released the Gingerbread update for the EVO 3G, it caused my Evo to occasionally go into "reboot" cycles...it would reboot constantly until I removed the battery for a while. I eventually decided to reset it before trying to get Sprint to deal with it. Before I reset it, I research my options for backing it up and found MyBackup (that is the free, limited use version...MyBackupPro is a paid for version that will not "expire" and also have some additional features). It worked extremely well and allowed me to backup to my SD card (or you can backup to their server).

So, I would suggest trying to reset it and add everything back and see if that helps. If the problem still happens, then you would either take it to Verizon or try another round of resetting it but this time add apps back in slowly.

You might also try doing Google searches on the problem.
