Terrific post, Phil! I really love the idea of libraries as community collaboration spaces. I had the pleasure to keynote the Electronic Resources and Libraries conference back in February and [among other things] pitched the same thing. For reference, the full presentation is here:

Good article. Really like the time donation aspect. Could be very powerful in terms of digital inclusion.

The Coco Coworking spaces in Minneapolis/St. Paul put an official librarian in place this year.

Interesting idea and it would be very useful if the facilities of the libraries currently were not stretched to the gills just trying to provide computer access for the digital divide and really all those people co-working need to be prepared to just explain how to use a database or recommend a good book, Also I would love the library to offer Digital Production Servies to the co-workers but my public library has computers still running Window 2000... so where does this money come from
