Is The Voice-messaging-data Plan Paradigm Beginning To End?

I really do prefer HD Voice (G722) and I run an Asterisk PBX Server at home. I love to be able to communicate over VoIP by mobile. I currently have a hardware phone from Yealink, an SIP-T22P (do a search). Right now, with 3G, I don't think it's possible to make phone calls that make use of G722 (HD Voice) or even G711 (PSTN-quality sound over not with landline but over VoIP) due to high latency.
To hear what G722 sounds like, visit this website: http://www-mobile.ec...links/demo.html
Well anyway, text-based communication will have to do for now, including the ability to surf the Internet, as the latency over VoIP is not very low enough to ensure a smooth phone conversation without any packet loss. Plus, I'm hearing impaired so I wouldn't find myself going over 30 to 60 minutes of voice communication over mobile, even at home. Recently, I didn't make any phone calls over mobile except at home.
I currently have a Virgin Mobile Optimus V and I pay about $35 a month. But the downside is I'm stuck with the CDMA. As long as I can deal with data and texting, that's all okay with me.
