Hello all.
I am looking to attach another monitor to make it 3, but wondering if it's possible with my current setup.
My gfx card has 2 dvi ports and 1 hdmi. The dvi's are used, and my third monitor will also be dvi so I'll be using an hdmi to dvi adapter.
Should this be sufficient to directly connect the 3 monitors
My gfx card is a nvidia 9800 gt
Thanks

I think nvidia cards can only support 2 monitors.

Newer ones might be able to support more than two monitors (I don't really now), but I am darn sure that 9800GT will only support two.
So, that will likely leave the following options:
1) Get a new graphics card that can support more than two monitors.
2) Add a second card. Note that this option can be tricky as the second card has to be one where the driver will not conflict with the driver of the original card. I have done this in the past...the very, very distance past...with my PIII and two Radeon GPUs (one AGP and one PCI, not PCI-E).
3) Get a USB graphics adapter. This last option will work fine for things like browsing, email, word processing, etc, but will not work well for graphically intensive stuff like games or CAD (this only matter for the monitor connected to that USB adapter).

Nvidia will only allow three monitors in a non-sli multi-card setup. Otherwise, you get two. I would say dump the Nvidia card, grab an AMD 5xxx or 6xxx series card. They support eyefinity, and even the cheapest cards support 3 displays. The high end cards can run up to 6. I say dump the 9800 because there is no sense in having two video cards idling along at 50watts each, when you only need one card.
