The review seems just touch the skin of this software, not really understand it. Its interface is old, however, just works. An effect browser is provided to have a quick result which save users lots of time to "find the tools". Several software provides a "first-level" UI to adjust photos, that is nice at the first glance, however, that normally does not do the job. Modern camera provides decent quality and less and less chance users have to fix their photo. When you need to fix/adjust it, most of the time is to enhance it or apply your creativity, those simple adjustment normally does not work, and fine controls are what we need. I might say PaintShop is ugly in UI, however, solid and trustable. Some new adjust controls or "smart" functions that can save us time to retouch the photo are expected in later version.

I am a photographer 1, and photo adjuster 2 Most of my exposures right on the money and are tack sharp, and I don't need a crutch to fix poorly taken shots. Most reviewer's comments are based on Photoshop level I.Q., and their Rembrandt quality control requirement mentality. And don't get me started on RAW! It just means RAW-ten photography shoddy techniques, that in my opinion, HDR can outstrip any day! So my question to this reviewer, is, Can X4 do a good job for John Q. Public, and not be compared to the over priced Adobe products. Kelby can keep his overpriced Photoshop to himself. Nothing is perfect, and as for paintshop pro, 11 & 13 really didn't stack up to public scrutiny. I'll give this version a try, and be glad I kept my X2, till something better came along. This version with its HDR improvements and other nuances seems to have hit a happy medium for the amateur and pro in all of us photographers, who can work a hand held light meter, and can remember Ansel Adams!
