I have been a yahoo toolbar user since before the google toolbar came out. I had a nice collection of Yahoo bookmarks and now they are gone. No word from Yahoo if they will restore the 10+ years of bookmarks I had collected. I know PCWORLD has gone to find answers in the past. I am not sure what is going to happen. Ideally I would like an email from Yahoo with some sort of file with my old bookmarks that can be reimported to the new bookmarks, or simply give me my old ones back. There was no notice that they were going to delete them at all.

thanks in advance.

You can also Google "Yahoo bookmarks have disappeared", and see what others have tried.

this is really old, and not relevant to this issue. Supposedly the bookmarks were frozen from mid-summer till sometime in Mid october when you went to the webpage bookmarks.yahoo.com

After Mid-October they totally got wiped out/deleted at bookmarks.yahoo.com and also in the toolbar.

after searching Google, those other issues are old and no longer relevant. I cannot find a statement from Yahoo stating what their intentions are.

Having the same problem as well. It looks like, according to this link (http://answers.yahoo...27111618AAETOqm), that they were performing maintenance on them until October 31. But since then all mine are no longer visible. I really wish I would have exported them had I known about the upcoming maintenance. I have been using them for a while as well.

Can you login to the service and export your bookmarks as an html file (you can then import this to firefox or chrome)?

Completely blank? Contact support and ask them about that - could there be some server error? I've read of some fairly recent (<1 month) posts on this.

Hi Pete/Steve,

I am part of the team that did the migration of Y! bookmarks. We have had issues with a few users since then and it looks like your IDs could be one of them. The migration involved moving nearly 1.5 billion records for nearly 50 million+ users from Oracle to a nosql back-end, and so far we have had a few users complaining about lost bookmarks.
(approx 100+).

I happened to come across this page while searching for "Yahoo! bookmarks". You could email me your Y! ids with the missing bookmarks and I can try and take care of them by performing a manual migration specifically for your IDs.
This is an unofficial response, but that is the best I can do to help you.

You can contact me at abpillai@yahoo.com.

Regards

--Anand

Thank you very much! I do appreciate knowing the truth and recommend a little blurb put at the top of the yahoo bookmarks page for those that are not seeing anything due to the migration. At least i know i wasnt "crazy" in asking this question. Again, Thanks!

Hi, the Yahoo! Bookmarks haven't disappeared, they were migrated to the Yahoo! Toolbar. In response to our customers feedback, Yahoo! Bookmarks were fully migrated to Yahoo! Toolbar as of October 20, 2011, however, there have been some users whose bookmarks were missing appear after the migration.
Users experiencing this issue should contact us thru the Yahoo! Help ==> http://help.yahoo.co...ar/general.html and open up a Support ticket where your issue will be routed to one of our Technical Support Agents.

This may be of help:

http://answers.yahoo...31165210AAMWggm

There are several other links on Google, as the other poster stated. Evidently there's been some changes (not to be unexpected from a failing corporation). Yahoo is losing ground by the day. I got my first email account through them, but the spam became so bad that I had to close it. Then early this year, I needed a "disposable" email account, and I resigned up with Yahoo. The look is quite different since I left 2 years ago.

If you do manage to get your bookmarks back, you need to import them elsewhere, so that you'll have them when you need them. Try a "sync" type of service, such as Google & Firefox offers. This will keep all of your bookmarks (even between computers) at your fingertips.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see that the problem was solved before I answered. However, my advice on a "sync" service still stands, Google & Firefox has free sync services, there may be others also. Be sure to choose a respected brand (like I mentioned above), & Google their financial condition & stability, as you want the service to be there when you need it.

Best of Luck,
Cat

Xmarks is a good bookmark syncronization service, and works with multiple browsers.

I have had luck accessing my toolbars by first logging into Yahoo! Then I tab over on my browser and enter 'bookmarks.yahoo.com' (no quotes) and press enter.

Whew, I am actually pretty glad now that I use Opera since long time ago to sync all my bookmarks and even access them online from my account. <_<

Pretty good way to not get dragged into this whole mess of having all my bookmarks disappearing,I doubt it's gonna go anywhere in the future since it's integrated into their opera link.
