How is Siri supposed to rival Google, if it uses Google to do it's searches?

That is, unless Apple is planning to make their own search engine.

ad money, by striping the adds out they are removing the ad revenue from google, so google pays for the bandwidth and losses money from the add space.

Reading between the lines, this piece brilliantly deconstructs Schmidt's self-serving, Google-serving testimony!

But since when did any administration take anti-trust seriously? Just consider the Mobil-Exxon merger!

This piece brilliantly deconstructs Schmidt's self-serving, Google-serving testimony designed to stave off any serious (Siri-ous) investigation!

OTOH, does anyone really believe that the federal government takes anti-trust seriously? Just consider the Exxon-Mobil merger or the many cronies of Obama from the investment banking "industry"!

Siri is really a threat to google. If people start asking Siri to do the google search for them, they will not read the ads on the side, thereby negating a major revenue source for google.

Not unlike Research In Motion's increase in sales following the original iPhone launch, google will continue to see an increase in search mobile traffic as more and more people start to use Siri to initiate web searches. Not ignoring the fact that this will strip much of the add traffic away (as has already been mentioned), but remember that Siri is still in beta, just wait until Apple open up API's to all iOS developers. Addresses/directions could come from your local Navigation APP, business listings from your local telco, financial data direct from the stock exchange or your bank, travel details from the airline/travel agent... Product pricing and availability from amazon etc. Media from iTunes, NetFlix, Pandora and the list goes on.
Let's think for a second about how that will start to hit Google. After all where are Research In Motion today compared to this time 4 years ago?

So Siri uses google, but does revenue accrue to google or to Apple?

So in other words, search is becoming just a function more so than a service. Google needs to find a new way to make majority of its revenue instead of ads from search. Is this what you guys mean?
