Apparently you did not test drive Jeanne that much. I have used it for 3 months and most of what you said is inaccurate.

Speaktoit Assistant seems to be pretty damn close to Siri.

So, what about Iris?

Iris is cool because it has the same attitude as Siri, but lacks a lot of functionality. Granted it's only an alpha, but it needs a few more updates before it is at the level of Speaktoit.

Siri is still in Beta. It hasn't been fully unlocked by Apple.

I found Vlingo to work pretty well. Not as good as Siri, but a decent start Iris was worthless... dog slow and very limited functionality. Going to try SpeakToIt because of this article.

Oh I meant that Iris is in Alpha. Sorry about the mix-up there.

If you want to make your own apps use snappii as I do. It's the best platform for making apps.

I wish this article had also presented a review of Siri for comparison. It makes Siri look flawless, but only because the measuring stick never gets close to Apple's virtual assistant.

We just ran a test (for fun, nothing scientific) with our new office phones.

4s Siri vs. SII with Speaktoit.

Speaktoit came out on top in a lot of the things we asked.

One example;
We asked both: "Where am I" (with GPS turned off)
Siri - gave us the City and street. (Can't remember if it showed us a map at this point or if we had to click something)
Speaktoit - gave us the exact address and a nice little map showing our exact location.

We then asked for directions to a nearby business.
Siri - "Sorry, I can only give directions in the US" (or something like that) But it did give the address.

Speaktoit - pulled up a map with directions and even gives you the option of voiced turn by turn directions.

I'm sure Siri would fare better on that one in the US, but losing functionality simply because you aren't in the US is a huge drawback.

The coolest thing about SIRI isn't that "she" understands commands, but that "she" speaks.

How is that the coolest thing? My GPS did that 10 years ago.

According to AppJudgement, it's more likely you'll prefer Android Voice over Siri

I used Skyvi for a long time, only deleting it when I realized I didn't use it that much and I was running out of space on my phone.
Decent grasp of basic commands, could send messages, call people, play music, find me a Starbucks, I think it should be on here, it's one of the top apps on the Play Store, at least, for my LG Optimus.
