Kindle Fire Staking Claim As Tablet To Beat This Christmas

The problem with high priced tablets is the amount of features added to justify the price, the iPad was basically the iPhone but non portable, Steve Jobs even said when he saw the iPad the first though was “this would be cool as a phone”.
I don’t need GPS to watch Netflix, post to Facebook or read the news; nor do I need a front facing camera for that. If I want to take a picture of something I would just use my cell phone. I also don’t need an accelerometer or a compass; again if you have the money to buy a tablet with those features you probably have a phone with those same features.
A tablet needs to simulate the function of having printed material, have some form of connectivity and be able to display media. That’s it, that’s the secret formula to make them go flying off the shelves. The end user just needs something that is basically a electronic magazine.

Both the new Nook and the Archos 80 G9 are far more enticing then the Kindle.

For the extra $50 the B&N kindle tablet is a MUCH better buy. Twice the storage and a card slot so it might be able to be rooted to run full Android.

You guys just don't like Barnes & Noble... do you?
Not the case. On B&N Nook — "For example, the Retrevo study did not ask about the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet announced this week, which is $50 more expensive than the Kindle Fire, but essentially doubles-up on specs (see comparison chart). "
