Technically speaking, there are no more viruses. The term virus refers to a way for malicious code to spread across computers--infecting otherwise good program files--that is no longer used.
That's why many people today prefer the more generic term malware.
I believe that most malware today spreads as Trojans--bad programs pretending to be good ones. These come in all sorts of forms and use all sorts of tricks. You might, for instance, get some email encouraging you to go to a particular web site and download a photo. The photo file is really a program. When you open it, you do get to see a photo, but the program installs malware on your computer.
That's just one example. New tricks are being invented every day.

We suggest learning a programming language such as C, C++, Perl, PHP, etc. Creating a program to delete files or to cause other issues with a persons computer resolves nothing, may cause you additional issues, may cause you to be prosecuted by the law. In other words you could be fined or sent to prison.
