Another pseudo "study" from Retrevo. Matt have you thought of finding legitimate sources instead of one creating "data" to it's shopping site prosper?

How many Apple products does Retrevo sell? It's odd that the majority of their "studies" from their own customers tend to skew towards the products they sell.

Disgraceful.

"44 percent said they "didn't know enough about the Amazon tablet."
That sounds about right - and half of those that do, probably don't realize it's only a crippled version of Android, making the Fire little better than an Amazon catalog.
Another walled garden product - even worse than the iPad.
Roll on W8 tablets!
To disagree without being disagreeable is the art of debate. Simply because one has a strong opinion, it does not necessarily make an alternative opinion less valid.

I'm not one of those intrigued. I can't figure out why I have to spend $200 just to shop at Amazon.com.

I think the $300 cheaper price tag is probably the biggest draw of the "Fire" over iPad 2. If I wanted a tablet and didn't have money burning a whole in my pocket, I'd probably opt for the Fire, as well.

At the same time, the Fire hasn't yet developed the name recognition of the iPad, as evidenced by the 44% who didn't have a clue about it. It remains that low cost, lesser featured products will always have a larger, potential market than (much) higher priced full featured products. The same would probably hold true when comparing the Fire against high(er) end Android tablets such as the Xoom or various Galaxy tablets.

Lastly, instead of speculated about what might happen during the holiday buying season, wouldn't it be better to just wait two months and see what happens? Or would that make too much sense?

Bah humbug on a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I love my CM7.1 Nook Color running @ 1.2ghz. The new Nook Tablet will have an improved IPS display with double the ram (1gb vs 512mb) and double the internal storage (16gb vs 8gb) of the Fire. Factor in a sd micro exspansion slot then by comparison the extra $50 cost of the $249 Nook Tablet is well worth every penny. I am expecting the Nook Tablet to be the easier of the two to root and wouldn't doubt that CM9 (Android 4.0) will be available sometime before spring.

Does your CM7.1 Nook Color have the Amazon ecosystem? No? 'Nuff said.

The fire and the ipad are in such different tablet categories that comparing them is like comparing a netbook with a desktop replacement laptop and wondering which will sell more.

The sales of fire should be compared with that of the nook tablet and the ipad with transformer prime or the galaxy tab.

It will make much more sense for t everyone concerned, be it analysts, or the device makers concerned, or buyers who are unable to decide which one of them to buy.
