I got the blue screen of death after i restarted my computer. The device got stuck in an infinite loop.. my video card.. i found out i can get my computer to run if i go into safe mode, disable the video card, then restart it. i couldnt put the computer into standby anymore either. if i enable the card, restart, the screen is white, but i can still see the mouse. when i log in my username and press enter it freezes and i need to restart. when i start my computer now i just get the monitor's RGB color test - as if the tower wasnt even on. so i think its either my PSU (550w SS 5v rail) or my video card (ATI x800 XL) agp. my mobo doesnt have an onboard video card to test out either.... any info will help! thanks in advance

You mentioned you got the BSOD. What was the specific error message?

"The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly."ati2dvag

Well, that is an odd BSOD message but if that is the message that you see, that rules out everything but the video card. Since you do not have an onboard video system on your motherboard, unfortunately, you will need to get another video card. I am confident this is not a Power Supply issue. You can pick up very good quality video cards from Tiger Direct and New Egg.
