Here's mine:
Attached Image: hdtune wd640GB.png

Not too bad compared to yours, and remember I have mine set to legacy IDE mode instead of AHCI. What is your AAM setting? Mine's 254 (loud). I don't know about the free version of HD Tune, but with the pro version you can change this (WinAAM can also do this, free). I was also surfing the web while doing this, so that explains the higher CPU usage.

THX coastie.

Your access time is faster than mine but the other speed factors are slower if I'm understanding the results correctly.

Whats up with the minus on your cpu usage coastie?

Here's my result I listed in your profile.
It is IDE mode Brian.

Just noticed that you guys are showing a HDD temp but I'm not?

Yes, RAID 0.

That explains why you don't see any HD temp - the raid controller prevents the OS from seeing the actual temp sensors and SMART data on the drives.

Hey Brian, Something didin't look right in the comparison with Rommels results. I went into BiOS this morning and the two SATA headers that were AHCI from the Z68 were disabled. I enabled them and ran the thing again. as you can see, not much change. Will move to the MARVELL header ( different controller ) and see what that looks like.

OK, this is what I get with the MARVELL AHCI. It is much quieter ( pretty near dead silent ).

Went back to the other SATA III header and enabled the jmicron controller to see how that went. Willl go in and disable MARVELL as I don't think it is as advertised and had heard that it was slower ( at least on the P55 Chipset ).

I said that's the temp sensor. I have no idea why the CPU usage is negative. Probably some little error with it.

The only thing I can see is Coastie is using an old version of HDTune, that could be why he's seeing negative CPU usage.

Oh, I didn't even realize there was a free version. I bought HDTune quite a while ago.

The free version is quite limited though in the features. Clearly, it's a way to try to get you to pay for the full version.
