Want to use the Nook Color as a tablet? Just root it! There are ROMs out there that will root your device in one click. Cyanogenmod is one of the most popular.

Just wait until this one gets rooted with Ice Cream Sandwich (CM9).

For the uninitiated (ME) - enplane "ROOT IT" and give a little info on what this does, how it is done (difficulty?), costs and a source link ...

Thanks,

Rooting means giving the end user full access which usually gives the user the choice to install a custom ROM which adds more functions. If you can follow simple step, rooting is easy and there is easier methods around (one-click-root) but not every android device is compatible to those way of rooting the device. It's free but it can cancel a warranty, but you can make it look like you didn't touch it before sending it back (Which I did once with my Nexus S and they gave me a new one).

Here's a link to Cyanogenmod's wiki. Instructions are given to help you root the device and install the cyanogenmod.

"It lacks components such as built-in Bluetooth, stereo speakers, GPS, and front- and rear-facing cameras"

There are reasons $200 tablets do not have the above features, so they can sell them for $200 dollars! Include all of the aboce, and you effectively double the price. Get a clue Melissa

My new Nook tablet will not wake up from sleep mode. Can't reach customer support. Am stuck with a device that doesn't work. Also have a kindle fire. Working fine.
