The only Apple users I know, do buy into the marketing strategy. That is why the ad will hit a nerve with them.
I think The Galaxy II (with keyboard) is the most awesome phone. I have the Galaxy S, and the only thing I hate about it is not having gotten the keyboard version.
Anyway, no Android product needs to reference Apple at this point.. being number one and all. But they can sure have fun with it.

The Apple customers you've seen look like America? Uh, you stood in line in downtown San Francisco. Only an Apple user would think the Castro et al looked anything like what you no doubt think of as flyover country.

As advertising this is a serious misstep on the part of Samsung as, instead of establishing a unique selling proposition in the mind of the viewer for their own devices, they measure themselves against Apple who already have immense credibility with the buying public and set the "standard" for mobile digital devices.
In my opinion, a relative small number of consumers really care about the "issues" the ad emphasizes. Those consumers would probably not buy Apple anyway so they are reaching out to an audience that is already captive. Without a unique selling proposition to capture the imagination of the undecided consumers.

I own an iPhone 4S. Ad doesn't bother me in the least. Why would it? Why do people argue over phones? Jeez, buy what you like and shut up about it.

Sounds like Harry took the ad personally. Doh! I own the products Apple makes fun of me for owning, but hey. Funny ad.
