It comes down to this: by denying access to the Android Market, Amazon is essentially sending its customers to Google, searching for "spotify apk" "pogoplug apk" and others. With thousands of users obtaining files from untrustworthy sources, Amazon will destroy the security and reputation of its otherwise nifty device. It's "the device to own" -- not in a good sense.

Great info, mine is working like a charm however when searching for applications I find very few, is that normal? When I go to the Android marketplace and I search for "converter" I get only 1 return and if I go to my Amazon APP Store I get tons. Is that normal?

Same for me. According to Google Help, if your device isn't licensed to access the Android Market, installing it on your device is a violation and you won't be able to download anything from the market.

"Finally, tap the Menu key again and press Paste to copy the Vending.apk file into the App folder."

Fails, therefore I am unable to adjust permissions.

Same here. I also can't update File Expert; it says "Application Not Installed" whenever I try.

Seriously considering returning my Fire and just getting something else.

I don't really know if my kindle is actually bricked, but I'm pretty sure it is. Please read my situation and help me, if possible.

I had my kindle rooted and was trying to install the android market (google play). I previously installed google frameworks or what ever its called. I downloaded the apk directly onto my kindle fire. I used file expert to go to system/app and mounted it Read/Write. Then I copied the apk into the folder. Next, I changed the permissions to Owner - Read/Write, Group - Read, Others - Read. I went into the folder to install the apk, and then file expert crashed. I didn't think it was a big deal, but then it crashed again. Before I knew it, settings crashed, then the home and bar with notifications and times crashes are well. I decided to try to reboot my kindle. When I turned it on, I got a yellow triangle. It said to press the power button, and I did. After a few seconds, it started to turn on again. It's been two hours and the kindle hasn't turned on yet. I tried turning of the kindle again by pressing and holding the power button, but when I tried to turn it on again, the yellow triangle showed up again. Without me doing anything, it continued on to the the boot up screen. And its been stuck like this...it won't turn on...please help me!
