Ok, a REALLY geeky question. :-) I'm about to buy a new Dell w/Vista. Afterwards I'll buy PSP XI and possibly Photoshop. Now I have the opportunity to buy Intel DUO 2 Core chips and never want to click on a button and wait again! ;-)There are two families of Intel chips I can choose from: E6300 (1.86ghz) & E6400 (2.13ghz) both with only 2MB L2 cache. AND the E6600 (2.4ghz) & E6700 (2.66ghz). Both of these have 4MB L2 cache as well as the faster clock speeds. So, for graphics programs is the 4MB cache more important than the 2MB cache? Any pros here who can share their thoughts about which speed/RAM is overkill in this case? Or which would give me a little head room. There is no plan to do video editing. Some music, graphics, photos, newsletters. That's all. Thanks, so much. Richard

Hi,The L2 is a "small memory" that the CPU use to do faster processing. Why faster? because dont have to go through the north bridge and RAM and then back. It goes directly the this L2 cache to get the info needed. In short it's like RAM, the more you have the better the performance.
