I guess it has to do with the new style of the commenting system (but not sure, it just started when the new comment style was introduced and nothing else has changed). When I visit any article on pcworld.com, the laptop fan starts making noise and the processor usage soars up. Also, even though the article has fully loaded, the browser continues to show the loading in progress. But it stops if the Esc key is pressed, whereupon the processor usage also goes back to normal.

It could be some JavaScript issue or something. I'm using Firefox (the latest stable version). It happens with no other site; I have determined it's pcworld.com only.

Thanks for reading.

Odd - so the page is still loading when that happens? What browser do you have? Even when I disabled my adblocker and script blocker and went to the homepage and clicked a few links, I didn't notice much (granted, this is on a quad-core desktop with a good mid-range graphics card, but even so I should notice something there...)
