The game in mention starts from $60 and runs all the way up to $150 (depending on what package you choose). Add $15 per month and at least $20 per month for your ISP. That is a lot of money for a game. Lower the price and EA will see more active users.

Having played the game and other MMOs I would actually say this game is worth the 15/month and even makes WoW look like a waist of money for what you get. The cut scenes or 'fully-voiced in-game cinematics' with mission quest and options are great and make a $60 console game with 40ish hours of play also seem like a waist of cash.

They already know about how many members they can support for the launch. And they already know how much $$$ they need to rake in to be profitable. Meaning the final price is the one they want to charge for the number of players they expect to support.

While I don't deny the obvious logic in this train of thinking, you have to look at a little differently.

First, you simply can't add the cost of internet into the cost of playing the game. I don't doubt that there may be someone who bought internet just for this game, it is unlikely or at least there are so few people that the number is insignificant (kinda of like the power of the that battle station).

Second, and I may be wrong here, but I don't think there is currently a free-to-play model, so everyone will be expected to pay the $15/month

Which brings me to my third point. $15/month is pretty standard in pay-to-play MMO's and most MMO's have a pretty decent ration of money - content. This looks to be the same with the voice acting going a long way to helping justify that expense.

Also, I bought the $150 collector's edition, to me it is not only a price to play the game, but I am a Star Wars collector and avid fan, so at least part of that cost is absorbed in my "collection" budget and not all to my "gaming" budget. I know it isn't much of a distinction, but it should be noted nonetheless.

Have fun, and I hope to see you all in universe soon!

it's a grind... it's a theme on rails... dialog is great.. mmos theme mmos are about repetitiveness... you repeat content in preparation for new content.. and you repeat content to prepare for new content. REPEATING the same dialog over and over again is not fun. this should have been a one player game. had they thrown in sandbox elements it would have not been a run of the mill theme mmo.

Sorry but $15 for a month of entertainment is NOT alot of money. Heck, I could go to a movie buy a ticket, popcorn and drink and drop $20 easily. Not to mention the gas I used to go to the theater.

And $20 for your ISP? You're seriously using that arguement? My ISP and broadband have been in our household for years. Playing games online is just one of MANY things we do with our computer. From research (Google everything you want info on) to following news, sports, entertainment, to paying bills and managing finances...

I beta tested the game for six months. No where in any of the four classes I tested is there repeating the same lines over and over again. Perhaps you ought to play the game or watch some game play on youtube before making incredibly deceitful and absolutely untrue remarks such as this.

Haters gotta hate, I guess.

Great game if you get on, cant even log into forums, without being on a wait list, never mind the 2 hour wait to get into a server to play, they sure made a great game, but they didn't make it customer friendly, and I'm paying for a wait. Seems they should have this worked out after 2 years of gearing up for it.

The game is far more of an RPG then a true MMO. Its very linear so far and I have played about 40 hours into it. It only has 3 pvp levels. Its like 90% rpg/single player and 10% pvp or mmo. Its good but they focused too much on one side of the game.

Well I didn't have to wait for anything I created a character and went straight into a server so maybe you just have a lame PC or slow internet connection

Well one year in and it is quite the disastor. Subbed for a month then tried f2p and subsequently quit. It's like they created this awesome game and then didn't do any maintenance/updates after it was released. Such a travesty considering the money that went into it. Too many basic mmo features missing and awol devs.
