Hi,Can anyone help me with the "Repair Local Area Connection" in WinXP. Now when I choose repair on the Local Area Network in Network Connections a box pops up saying"Windows finished repairing your connection..."but it only has a cancel button which, when clicked, does not do anything. I'm afraid I may have deleted a folder in the Windows folder, named WinIPConfig, which may have caused this problem. However, I cannot find this folder on my other WinXP computer. So for now I am stuck with this box in the middle of my screen which will not go away, and I'm not sure if the Repair function actually works anymore.Trick

I cannot find it in that website, do you have the link?I have searched in the internet and there seems to be no solution to this problem, the window just won't go away if you press the cancel button. You have to restart your PC to make it go away.

Thanks for the reply. I followed what was suggested in the annoyances website(uninstall and install the driver, sfc /scannow ) but still the problem persists. When I right click the small icon at the bottom which is network icon and click repair, the problem shows up, I can only see the cancel button. When I press the cancel button, nothing happens.I found a work around when I do the repair on the support tab (double click the network icon and the status window shows up, click support tab) the repair works without the problem. I wonder what is the difference between, right clicking the icon and click repair and going to the status page(support tab) and clicking the repair there. I already updated my windows, updated my anti spyware virus.I am using an IBM X60 Thinkpad by Lenovo.

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi Manni : Just a few moments ago I clicked my link and could view the info there; IF you MANUALLY want to view the info, go to the "Annoyances" site, click "Windows XP" under "Discussion Forum" in the left-hand column and look for the "thread" started by "Trick" on Apr 20, 2007 at 9:20 PM

Probably the easiest way to fix this is to first, go to microsoft website and download Process Explorer (Its a Much Better, Task Manager replacement Program). Run and Install the program. Go to Options, and put a checkmark beside "Replace Task Manager", <<< You'll only have to do this once. Then once you have this program running, press ctrl-alt-delete to open its window (Unless its already open). Find the process, Explorer.Exe. Then right click on it, and choose Properties. You will see the threads running in it. You should see a thread that resemebles this " NETSHELL.dll!NetSetupSetProgressCallback ", etc...click on that thread and select Kill. The Corrupt Box is now gone =)
