From what I saw in other gaming sites, wasn't so much as a back stabbing. It was more of someone trying to help someone else with a problem running the game. Another member stepped in and belittled the member for no apparent reason, as the member's advice was sound. I also wondered out loud where were the moderators or even if there were any. The thread was about 24 hrs old when I found it and she wasn't real pleased in me stepping and potentially resurrecting it ( she had a point there I guess

). Essentialy the guy was a troll pure and simple and she was worried that by my responding to that and bring the thread back to the front he would come back. He did, but only gace her a brief mention and then focused his attack on me. He quickly found out that I was no one to be trifled with, then I got a PM from her with a bit more. Something in the vein, of "See, he came back. What are you doing, you aren't a moderator here. " I calmly told her that I wasn't moderating or trying to, just giving him a dose of his own medicine and thread died after that. She was happy and let it go as she really didn't get dragged back into it anyway. Also. I have a lot of frends here, but when it comes to moderating, I treat them like every other member and if they get out line I will call them on it. If some think I stabbed them in back, well so be it, just doing what I am supposed to do.
That poor woman shouldn't just sit there taking it from him, she should stand up to him. If there weren't any mods present at the time, she should then do what I would do and tell the person in charge of the site. The site itself would be responsible for allowing things like that to happen, so she should make a complain. If things still don'tt work out, she should sue them for emotional damages caused by a poorly operated website.
I remember a similar situation happened to me back in Gamepro: Ace, Patsfan, Wulf and I were all accused of being alts. I will not mention who it was that had gotten all our ip addresses mixed up, it turns out that none of our ip addresses even matched any of the alts that he had boldly accused us of being. I have tried to explain to him that I was not the alt in question and hoped to settle the situation with him in a civilized manner but this ignorant person chose to act in an immature fashion, also making the problem much worse and going as far as to antagonize me in front of the whole community.
I must tell somebody with a much higher position than any of the staff members in the forums in hopes to settle the problem. My father who is an attorney, told me many times that I should always fight for my rights and to stand my ground. Keeping my father's words fresh in my mind, I sent a simple PM to the head of Gamepro with some screenshots for proof, I was then told the problem would be handled in an efficient way.
I was relieved, but didn't know what "
handled in an efficient way" meant, I guess it was a way to say that the problem would be handled in a way that no one would even know, and also in a way that wouldn't offend him either. Anyway this is a free country and you should fight for your rights! Don't let people walk all over you. BTW coastie, tell me where you have met this woman and I'll give her the number to my father's law office. I think she's got a good a case and can win some big bucks for something like this.
