How To Convert Digital Camera SMS Images to JPEG

I took some photos on my Motorola cell phone and transmitted them to my email account on my PC. They are in SMS format and I can't open them. Can I convert them to JPEG or do I have to have software that recognizes SMS file extensions?Thanks.
