Hello :) !

My nickname is Phylip. I am new to this forum.
Can you give me advice on buying digital camcorder?
It's purpose is recording karate competition events.
Competitions are taken from morning to evening. I need a camera with which I can shoot in low light conditions.
Are there camcorders with rechargeable batteries and high memory capacities?
I seek camcorder in medium price range with excellent performances.
Can you give me other advice in buying camera. I read quick tips on buying digital camera on
Pcworld web page. Is the external microphone or other recommended add-on's necessary for shooting karate competitions ? They are expensive.

Thank you in advance :).

Hard to say you'll find something at the price I awesome you want.

I recommend a full 1080P recording model.
1080i will offer motion blurr when you pause to check out a point in the action during play back.
1080P is seemless. A model with a built in hard drive will cost you.
High speed flash cards work excellent and if you shop for a deal, you'll get plenty of storage ability.
I picked up an 8GB class 6 for under $15 at best buy on sale.
Though the time you said the compitions run, sounds like you need a lot of storage.
Also a backup battery.

As far as an external mic goes, I doubt thats needed.
You'll be close enough to the action that the built in mic should be fine. But if not, consider that later if you feel you need it.

As for low lighting, that is some homework there reading the model's specs concerning that and if the percentage of reviews that agree.
I haven't looked enough to suggest a perticular model.

1080i is also a PITA to deal with sometimes. I had some issues converting some AVCHD 1080i footage from a Sony camcorder with another program (I was able to convert it to H.264 without an issue by using their own program though).

Thank you for the answers.
Can you tell me of low cost digital camera that you can recommend?
Flash card of 8GB sounds good.
I'm reconsidering the need for that much storage. Low price camera is OK.

Keep in mind that AVCHD 1080p video takes up quite a bit of space. Look at the camera's information to see the amount it uses.
