I purchased a 500 Gb Hitachi Toruo Mobile External Hard Drive.
I was wondering if I could put Linux on the External Hard Drive just like a USB Flash Drive.
If that's possible can I save data on the drive?
Example:
If I Installed the wine package for running windows programs and I rebooted would the software still
be there?
Also, I was wondering if I Could I unplug the drive and plug it to another computer like
An Ubuntu Live CD.
Thanks,
Alexander

Yes, most Linux will allow that. There are some that will not allow that. Many have ways to remaster the image if you want some programs and not others.
Windows 8 is a useless OS that Microsoft released that has many flaws and bugs. DO NOT USE IT. Use Windows XP or Windows 7.
