I want to purchase a great speaker system to use on my pc. I bought a surround sound system for my tv, but I'm not tech savy to use it for both. Something in the $180 range is ok. Size does matter, yes?

Hi, Vinyard.

Since I've never spent anywhere near that for computer speakers, I'm not going to make a recommendation. But here are a few things you may wan to think about:

Do you want surround for the computer? It depends on how you use it. If you're not a gamer and don't often watch big Hollywood-style movies on the computer, you really don't need a surround system. A 2.1 system (two satellite speakers and a subwoofer) would do.

If your computer and TV are in the same room (or if the PC is a laptop you can easily move there), plugging it into the home theater surround system isn't difficult. Your new surround receiver almost certainly has an aux port--a standard mini-port. A simple male/male mini-plug cable will let you send 2-track audio from the PC to the receiver.

If the PC has an HDMI port, you can use that to connect it, and get full surround sound.
