The ending remarks... "My initial impression is that this may be best laptop Dell’s made in years." enthrall me... Waiting to get my hand on to such a machine from Dell...

My Dell XPS15 is by far the best computer I have owned in 25 years. Sometime latewr this year I will be in the market for a new computer and this model will be on the short list.

Will it have IPS panel screen? At least as an option? Why not? Most laptops are scoring very low in the screen dept. Especially when it comes to colors, or viewing angles. It's time to drop those cheap screen panels, and upgrade to IPS.

Yes, hopefully the display is nice like ALL MacBooks. I have an XPS 14 (the older one with the sweet JBL Speakers), and I changed out the display to an LG 1600 x 900. It's now the best computer I've ever owned.

Well, if there is a 1920x1080 option like the 15z and 14z, then it looks very nice. Nicer than the MB imo.

For what it is worth, Lenovo sells two lines worth considering. The X200 line, and the W500 line. The W520 specifically, employs a very nice, high quality 1080P matte finish display that destroys what Apple has to offer. The X200 line just happens to offer up 1080p IPS displays, which Apple does not use in their laptops.

I have the Dell XPS 15 L502x laptop with the 1080p B+RGLED screen. It is by far the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop.

I have the XPS 17 with that option as well and I agree.

It also has the best sound system I've ever heard in a laptop too. Even audio engineers have stopped and said; "is that coming from your laptop!?".

The Beats audio on the HP DV6 is decent too, but it's still not even close.

I've had my Dell XPS 1330 since Dec. 2007 through two tours in Iraq, then deployed from California to Japan and back in the Marines with zero problems. The only thing I can really nitpick about now is the fan noise and heat, which is mainly because it is a 5400RPM hard drive and the old GeForce 8400M video card. SSD and integrated graphics should take care of this. I paid ~$2400 with shipping, tax, and accessories back then, so I expect this should come in ~$1000. I've rarely ever used the HDMI port, so I wouldn't be heartbroken if they left it out. What I would like to see is up to 8GB RAM optional. A NV 540m card would be nice as well, but I will likely prefer to go without to minimize noise, heat, and power consumption as I rarely used my laptop for games anyway. 1080p LED display please.
