PCWorld.com Members can't change avatar but anyone that uses the random login systems can.

That is all.

Edit: subject line has a typo.
Edit: Well, it looks like my forum profile has an avatar, but not my news comment profile. I can't find a place to upload one either.

At the upper right, click on your user name and then " My Profile". On the left, under Options, click on "Profile" then "Change Avatar".

You have a profile pic (on your profile) and an avatar (on the forums), which are separate (I use the same image for both though). I forget which one the comments use.

Since you have setup an Avatar in the forums settings, that same avatar/image appears on your comments in articles. There is also a "photo" that you can setup, but that mainly appears in your forum profile.

It appears that the other way you get an "avatar" image for article comments is if you login using one of the other "networks" such as Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, etc. It appears if you do that RATHER than create/login with an actual PCWorld account, then it uses a picture from your Facebook/Twitter/etc (whichever you used) account. This is ONLY for comments on the article pages...it does NOT appear to use those images for the forum avatar image.
