The lag was likely caused by the low RAM inside the iPad. Most virtual machines od an OS require 512MB - 1GB of RAM as a minimum for the software to have less lag.

And as far as 2GB of storage? Not sure how much more uou would need. You're just creating docs.

This is where a netbook kills a tablet. It has more onboard resources, more storage, access to MS Skydrive/Hotmail for more cloud storage, plenty of RAM and no keyboard lag, and the best thing if all you get the full office experience at the exact same or lesser price point.

The software is a very good idea, but would b better served on Android tablets whre they have way more RAM and far less lag.

512MB of RAM in todays software age, shows how Apple is really, milking the iDiots.

1GB of RAM only costs pennies on the dollar.Anyone who would release a brand new product with such low resources is stupid. iOS uses nearly 1/2 the 512MB just for itself. Most times it is using nealy 300MB of the RAM. Even after you close all apps, it is still using roughly 225MB.

What is the point of adding dualcore CPU and GPU and not increasing the system RAM?

It would be better if Microsoft just made a native iOS app. It would be better in the long run.

I think you would come out better using a remote desktop app, where your PC will handle all the resources you need for the OS and Office.

All you need is a fast WiFi connection which shouldn't be hard and the RDP apps don't need much memory space. You will still have the same keyboard lag, thanks to the low RAM, but at leats the other things won't be an issue.

You can still manipulate Office via touch, or you can use an iPad stylus if you have huge finger.

You can get an app for as low as 2.99. Not stpid signup required. The app uses a secure socket to connect to your PC. All you have to do is enable the right port on your router if you use one, and key your PC iP address handy.

As cheap as RAM is, Apple being this cheap in how much is in a $500 tablet is sad. Just look at netbooks. For $500 you still get 2GB of RAM and in mnay cases 4GB.

And yet for some a tablet replaces a netbook? Not if you NEED apps like Office.
