I'd like to see a few screen shots before jumping into another Linux Mint. Seems like Mint and Ubuntu are kicking up a lot of dust. I'll wait for the desktop to settle. No rush for me. Kubuntu is fine.

Some quick shots I found on the Web. I actually think this is a DE that you might really like. The theme in all but the first looks a little cramped to me, but that's just the theme.

Not bad. Very normal. I like it. Don't see the reason to switch off Kubuntu though.

Yea, of course that's always going to be subjective. You may still prefer KDE. Speaking for myself, I think this looks much nicer.

I found some vids over on Youtube as well. Some of these are from earlier, less stable versions, so grain of salt.

More vids. Apparently you're only allowed to attach two. Seems arbitrary.

The KDE user who doesn't see a need to change is being rational. Those of us who liked Gnome 2 and lived with Ubuntu are likely to be much happier with Mint than with Gnome 3 or Unity. I was a long-time Gnome/Ubuntu user, but I think their decision to force users into a different mode of interaction is both arrogant and wrong-headed. I've been using Linux Mint 12 for a couple months now and like it.

"addition to Cinnamon, Linux Mint 13 will also feature another desktop, called Mate, which applies a shell over Gnome 3 that presents an interface that replicates the experience of using Gnome 2.0"

As far as I know, Mate is a Gnome 2 fork and has nothing to do with simulating it. Am I wrong?
