This is wicked scary. But, as best as I can determine, I think that I may have dodged this.

They've had ample warning and time to act; an extension will simply give them an excuse for continuing to do nothing.

Pull the plug as scheduled.

You can check to see if your pc is infected here

1) Simply repeating what is stated in the article is bad form.

2) Unless you are blocked from doing so, owing to the time allowed for such having expired, edit your posts rather than reposting them.

3) If time allowed for editing has passed, Report your own post, asking that a Moderator edit it for you.

Listen up all you IT professionals. You are not professional if you let your network get infected. You are not professional if you let your users get away with activity that caused the infection. You are not professional if you don't clean it and patch it as soon as you are aware of it. You are not professional if you let your boss who is NOT IT tell you why you CANT update and police the network. Take some responsibility for your network. If you don't, the government will, and we see now what happens when the government takes responsibility. They should have shut it down IMMEDIATELY and let the private sector figure it out.

IT professionals are neither omniscient, omnipresent, nor omnipotent. To paint all with such a wide brush is to ignore the realities of the matter.

You know what? I think this was a set up in order to get into the only thing we have left in this country that is still free for those of us that have a computer.

I'm able to get security updates for VirusBarrier, including the vb app on my iPod I have a ton of countermeasures on my Macs, including OS X firewall, stealth mode, NoScript, Ghostery, WOT, DoNotTrackPlus, PrivacyScan, Little Snitch etc, etc. MacScan provides a DNSChanger removal tool for OS X.

Get the f**k off my lawn haha

WoT is crap, not to be trusted. It's ratings are wholly unvetted, and are easily manipulated.

Yeah, I know... I always google sites to gauge their 'grain-of-salt' factor (I'm suspicious by nature)... people can report whatever they want... for instance, I got a 'warning' when I went to a legit tennis-instruction site. Probably a competitor was dishonest in reporting to WOT that they were sleazy.

I've seen more than one instance of such.

One such incident involved some disgruntled members or ex-members of a professional on-line forum seeking revenge by way of multiple reports that said forum was a download site for malware. We were unable to get the attention of anyone at WoT to visit that forum to determine that it has absolutely no provisions for downloads of any sort. Only by engaging active members to make favorable reports on WoT were we able to negate the falsehoods.

We've also had members who have been unfairly maligned, seeking the aid of others members.

We are fortunate to have a sufficiently large number of willing participants to help. For most, though, that is probably not the case.
