It's not that I dread it. It's just that I don't like it. The two column interface seems clunky to me. Plus it loads slower.

The problem with the timeline, has nothing to do with security. It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that it is utterly HIDEOUS!

Number one, I don't like the weird hybrid between a one-column and two-column layout. When you see two columns on a page, your natural instinct is to read down the left column, then the right. With Timeline though, it's a clunky "zig-zag" reading pattern... like staring at the zipper on someone's crotch. The order in which things were posted is not always intuitive at first glance, which is ironic considering that the thing is called "Timeline".

Number two, although you do have privacy controls, Timeline taps into a different level of creepiness that those controls don't manage. I may be fine with sharing a sarcastic or politically-incorrect message in 2005. However, users do so with the understanding that these messages "fade" over time. Yes, they do stay there forever of course... but they become less and less ACCESSIBLE over time. Today, someone would have to click "Older Posts" a billion times to reach my 2005 material. With Timeline, they can jump there in one click. You might find it "awesome" and "more engaging" to crawl through years of your friends' ancient content, but most of us see you as a new level of creepy beyond the normal Facebook-stalking. If people like you are doing that, then I want a tool to easily mass-purge my content older than one year.

You are correct that everyone gripes about Facebook changes, yet doesn't generally cancel their accounts. However, I do find myself using Facebook less and less over time with each new re-vamp. I have re-connected with every 3rd-grade classmate I care to re-connect with, and am *thoroughly* burned out on crappy Zynga games. It's probably smart for Facebook to cash in an IPO at this time, because its "new and exciting" phase seems to be drawing to a close.

You are an 1diot. You start out by explaining that a VAST MAJORITY of Facebook users of all ages oppose the mandatory change, and then proceed to tell said vast majority that they are stupid and obviously have no idea why they dislike it.

You, sir, are a complete a55hole who is full of himself. And for, what is quite obviously, no good reason.

The problem with Timeline is that is looks just like Myspace, only with far fewer customization options.

Why in hell would I want to use Myspace Lite in place of Facebook when I can just go to Myspace and create a far more attractive and bitchin page? That's why I am going back to Mysapce once they destroy my FB page with their garbage design crap.

I hope Facebook burns for this, because I will laugh my a55 off when they do. F*ck you,Mark Zuckerberg - Eat the corn out of my scheiße!

Not all change is improvement. There is a groundswell of end users who are getting sick to death of so many IT companies changing everything every six months -- whether the users like it or not.

I joined facebook to keep up with friends and family, and to have a simple form of communication. Facebook offered me something that Myspace definitely never had a shot at. Now I am shocked to see Facebook basically becoming the very thing that Myspace failed at doing while thinking they were "improving" the whole thing. What a disaster. I find the two lines side by side with big groups of pictures here and there and videos all wide and large across the screen and random wall posts thrown everywhere with a big "yearly" countdown of information is EXTREMELY annoying and just down right not necessary. I don't know really what to do anymore. I just keep up with people mainly through email and instant messenger now a days anyways, since all the social networks have gotten absolutely ridiculous and WAY too complicated. Facebook had it good and I liked the "old boring linear" format. I just wanted a place where I can see a few new photos of some good old buddies, see where my old roomate lives now, maybe read a status update of how my Grandma's business is going....Nothing too complicated and it was fine the way it was. But all these drastic changes make me cringe, and with the choice of now not having a choice as to whether you want the timeline or not; that's pretty bogus if you ask me.

I dread it, a) because the graphics take WAY too much space on a laptop screen, B) they're FORCING me to take it, and c) I think the interface is clumsy, hard to follow, and needlessly complex.

I agree that the paranoia over Timeline is misguided. I really don't see that it is any less private than one's Wall is. My objection to it is its layout. Aside from being pug ugly, it is much harder to read than the Wall was. I much preferred the single column of the Wall to the confusing double column of Timeline. Honestly, I hope Facebook will ditch Timeline as soon as possible.

I personally just dont like the layout. It's not as easy to find things on a friends page. I was looking for someone's birth year and couldnt find it! It just sucks

I personally just dont like it. I hate the layout. Its not as easy to find things on a friends page. And what in the hell is it with the 2 columns?! Gay... I was looking for a friends birthyear and anothers location and couldnt find either. I also heard that you have to redo your privacy settings after the switch. It just sucks to be forced into it. I really love a lot of the other new changes but i will never like timeline.

I don't fear TIMELINE, I just don't like it. It is to A.D.D. for me. Too much going on at the same time,. I just dno't like it. Also I don't want a scrap book of all my posts, I just want to stay CURRENT with my kids, friends and family. I took care of it for now. I just deleted EVERYTHING I had ever posted on face book so when I have to change over there will be nothing there. Now the challenge is to keep it clean and not have more than one or two pages worth. That is what I want, not what I fear.
