Hi everyone,
I own a laptop which is one of several on my home wireless internet. Basically I'm wondering if it's possible that someone else on the network can view my screen and activities without approval.
I'm running Vista - the 'allow remote access' box within 'system' was ticked until earlier today (the first I knew about it).
Is there a way that someone else on the network could have accessed my laptop remotely without permission?
Bearing in mind the person in question is very computer savvy, has a history of such abuse of trust (has been known to install keyloggers on shared computers etc), and would likely invest a fair bit of time into such activities.
I'm not as bothered about them gaining lists of URLs visited, but having the ability to physically view my screen freaks me out.
Thanks.

If they know your logon info, yes, they could have remotely logged into your computer.
Could they have spied on your screen while you were using it? As far as I know, not without other software or without your approval through remote assistance.

Hi and welcome to the forums. I think Kazmatron summed it up pretty well. If you don't have Remote Assistance enabled, there is no way they could take control of or see what is displayed on your screen.

All anyone can do is to monitor your data stream and if they know what data to look for, Well anything is possible. Using WIFI router security of your choice and as many other safeguards provided and it wouldn't be worth the trouble to intercept and insert data into the stream to infect. Tough nut to crack there. Adding fearsome names to network SSID's is funny but just an invite if it's not protected. Turn off the SSID once all the units you have link up and then turn it off. No one else will see a normal signal.
