Point of interest: the only reason it requires a menu press to access the cartridges it because they're not empty. When the printer prompts you that the cartridge is empty it prompts you with an on-screen button immediately to move the cartridges into place. Normally there should be no reason to do so. As well considering the time it takes print heads to come into place and how frequently people confuse lids, it makes sense to not force this operation every time it's opened. It reduces wear and annoyance.

I really was on the verge of buying this product, but because scanning wirelessly is essential for me I am having to consider an HP alternative now; Cannon also has problems with this process.

I really liked my Workforce 845 until the black print head totally clogged. It seems that Epson print heads for virtually all of their products are mounted permanently. After trying all types of remedies I have concluded that my printer is dead. Google "clean clogged Epson print head" before you purchase an Epson product.

Another thing to point out is that the Workforce 845 is a dot-matrix printer and is not user-friendly with Quickbooks. If I had known that at the beginning, I would not have bought this machine.
