Back on my trusty 8800GT, and still running Skryim at 1080P, ultra quality (minus the AA)Performance hasn't changed, the weak link still being the CPU.

Coastie, why not just look for the file in C:\Program Files, and create a shortcut to that? I found fallout 3 didn't create a shortcut in the start menu either.

I'm able to start it ,but still haven't found the cure. Oddly enough after. I go to the task manager to end the task ( Showing as Not Running ), when i click to end the task, it briefly goes back the the apps page, a I notice two listings for Fallout3 ( both end ). There were two disks. The main game disk, then the second disk with the DLC's . Funny, I 've never had problems in the past with this thing.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Fallout3.exe"
No disc required. Try that.

The OC was through software, and with the recent re-installation of Windows (about 4 months ago), I didn't bother reinstalling them. So no OC for at least the last 3 months. The card still doesn't break 50C though.
Fallout 3 didn't create a shortcut because of the way the CD-Check worked. The launcher required the CD, and they had the CD set to auto-launch that launcher.

Basically, the GPU was just faulting when you put it under load? Like you get if you overclock it too far?
And that was your reference 5770, right?

The GPU is artifacting out when placed under a heavy load, like Skyrim. Haven't tried other games yet. The 8800GT is holding up admirably though.
Yes, that was the reference card. At reference speeds.

Yes it will be replaced, no I don't know when, or by what. Probably a 7800 series from AMD, or a 560~570 from Nvidia. Not sure yet, as I have a few other things to deal with first.
No, the oven trick won't work. This appears to be a ram failure, not a connection failure.

Side note, the troubles I am having may actually still be driver related. I updated drivers two days ago due to Steam complaining. When the new drivers were peoven screwy, I went back to old drivers ( uninstall and reinatall). The card continued to malfunction, and I assumed hardware.l due to the nature of the malfunction. However, it is sitting in my other test rig, and handling furmark like a freaking champ. Damned crappy AMD drivers!

After uninstalling the drivers, it may have been a good idea to run CCleaner and use both CCleaning options ( files and registry ) to make sure it was completely clean before installing new drivers.
