Volumes have been written about the repressive "Great Chinese Firewall". Truth is... pretty much every hostel I stayed at, there's a sticker on every computer screen letting you know the proxy website to use. Easy as heck.

And I find my Chinese friends on Facebook -- which is supposed to be forbidden/blocked.

Most all Chinese with a computer can use a proxy or anonymize themselves or both and visit whichever site they want. It's not hard. But like most users around the world, most Chinese visit the web to chat, play games, and buy stuff -- not to dive into politics.

Do you think the people that run corporate networks are idiots or what? All of the anonymizer sites are blocked by our outbound Internet proxy. Likewise any known relay service is blocked and they have found most of them.

If someone at work finds an easy way around outbound proxys and filters, then the IT network engineers should be fired and replaced.

Well this is helpful. Yeah, right. My stupid computer blocks 'HMA' and every other similar site like it. My school laptop blocks almost every site outside of school too, and i want to use it to go on some of the sites i want to, after i have done my work as a lot of money was payed to this laptop. I can't find any sort of way to unblock sites so I can access them...

Hey I have never thought of using Google Translate that's pretty clever! Only problem is when you need to download files or access social media so it really only works properly for displaying some sites. Anyway proxies honestly suck.
