Tranformer Prime is running a quad core processor.
Nice hardware but the specs come up short.
All these tablet makers are charging too much for these things anyways.
ICS is nice but if you don't keep up on specs you will be out of luck.
Between the Prime and the ipad 3 likely coming out soon this thing essentially is already obsolete spec-wise.

How much more processor speed do you need for those low level tablet apps? You just want improved specs just for....?
Answer me this, how much CPU power do you think Angry Birds uses?
Many similar cheesy games like that ran on CPU...that was about 7mhz...remember how fast Sonic was? All thiese lil apps on phones are more RAM resident vs CPU intensive. Dualcore is already kinda a waste when a 1.5Ghz single core CPU would be more than sufficient.
And if we really don't nee dualcore for Pac-Man, why would we need quadcore for it?
It is HIGHLY unlikely the iPad will be a quadcore device.
Dual/Quad cores are nothing more to me in just my opinion, bragging rights. Just to say, my tablet can open an app 1 sec faster than yours can. Yet they will look 100% identical, work 100% identical.

I myself don't like playing Russian Roulette with my phone's security and shelf life. I want a phone I know I can keep 2 full years and keep up with the newest apps/games as well as know my phone is malware free during that 2 years. I don't wanna get a new phone each year just to keep up with security patches and the newest apps/games.
I really don't understand why people are fine with the malware apps and lack of updates. For the same money you spend on Android you can get a Windows Mobile phone and get a better chance to keep up with updates and the newest apps and games in the same 2 year period without as big a risk with malware.
Android just isn't worth it. iOS has the better games/apps,gets more updates and doesn't have the malware for those who don't care how much their phone costs. And Windows Mobile has less malware gets more updates for the same as the lower end Android devices. And let's face it no Android phone looks as good as the Nokia Lumia 900 which only costs $100.

Apparently some companies are making video editing apps for the iPad. While the iPad is nowhere near a real video editing workstation, video editing of any kind is CPU intensive. If they can make encoding fly on this device that's a great thing.

Multiple cores allow for multiple computing threads simultaneously. It's not about speed, it's about being able to juggle 2-4 applications at one time. Example? The iPad 2 can go from your current application to your previous one by executing the 5-finger swipe on the screen. If you wanted to know what spurred up the beginning of the whole "Core 2 Duo" or "Dual Core", "Quad Core" renaissance, look at the Intel Pentium 4 w/ Hyperthreading. multiple virtual cores was the first step. The problem was heat and energy, so by the time Intel developed the i7 hex and octo-core processor that took up 130W of energy to function, they realized they needed to turn a metaphorical ford F150 into a toyota prius. For these tablets to be using the Tegra 2/3 or A5/A5X chip that contains multiple processing units in the size of a craccker... It's mind blowing.
