Hi, having a few issues with comp atm.

Everytime i start the computer normally, after signing in i get a bsod after if spends ages loading.
I can get task manager up in this time if i ctrl+alt+del but i only have about 30 seconds. Explorer.exe is shown as running but the screen stays black and nothing loads till the bsod.

Bsod: I get the message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Then at the bottom error message: 0x0000000A, 0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x82c3983c.

I dlded a few progs and updates recently so i assume its one of those. The last thing to happen before the first Bsod was a program called Regclean pro (which i didnt dl) had scheduled itself to "optimize my registry" on startup. It was after it did this the issues started.

Other info: on going to startup manager to see if it was something in there, one of these progs told me the following files no longer exist:
Rundll32.exe oobefldr.dll,Showwelcomecenter
Rundll32.exe c:\windows\System32\nvmtray.dll,nvtaskbarinit
Rundll32.exe c:\windows\System32\nvscvc.dll,nvstart
Rundll32.exe c:\windows\System32\nvcpl.dll,nvstartup

And ive read the first one is windows welcome center. So it seems like thats been deleted.

I can sign into the safe modes but with networking it wont connect to my wireless for some reason. Just local or limited. It normally will, ive done it before.

I have tried clean boots, system restore, chkdsk, Making a new user etc. I did a bootlog so i have that txtfile.
Startup repair generally finds no issues, apart from one earlier time when it said:
1 error, Root Cause-
No OS files found on disk. error code 0x490.

I should state aswell that at first the comp couldnt even make it to log in, it just went black. A system restore & chkdsk seemed to get it past that point.

So, thats where im at atm. Can anyone diagnose??

Thanksyou !

First do a memory check with memtest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostic and a HD test with the manufacturer's diagnostic tool.
You haven't mentioned which operating system we are dealing with.

Im on Vista home premium, Service pack 2.

Yeah i did a memory test & chkdsk previously. Memory test found no errors, i think chkdsk had & tried to fix a few.

Anyway ive managed to get it logging in now & loading gradually, im using it now to type this. For reference i did the command prompt: sfc/scannow as i saw someone suggest that. Ran that a couple times, both times said "some errors could not be fixed", but i guess it fixed some of them.

Also noticed the file "userinit.exe" was closing itself in my taskmanager on loading. So i restart that, restart explorer.exe also. Seems to make it load up.

Got a few error messages saying the files i said before, couldnt be found. I guess they are Nvidia files, perhaps that is what has been causing it? My nvidia graphics card broke a while ago & im using the basic one that comes with comp instead. I think one of the progs i dlded may have dlded an update for the prev card though.

Anything else i should do now to check my comp is ok again ?

if CHKDSK was attempting repairs, it would be advisable to run the manufacturer's diagnostic on the hard drive. If you don't know who manufactured the drive, you can use Seagate's DriveDetect to determine this without having to open your machine.

If userinit is having problems, you should also double check for viruses, as it is a common target for malware.

It sounds like the registry cleaner really screwed up the PC, and you'll need at least a repair install. Running a hard drive diagnostic tool like Seatools (that's Seagate's tool, but will work on any drive) isn't a bad idea.

Yup, but if you are going to run Seatools on a non-Seagate drive, just ignore the overtemp warning.

Follow these guidelines:

> Clean System from Viruses
> Update Hardware Drivers
> Configure Hardware Properly in BIOS
> Repair Windows Registry

Make Changes in Windows Registry:

Enabling AHCI driver in Windows registry before changing the SATA mode of the boot drive may resolve the issue. To do so follow the steps below:
. Click Start
. Type the following command in search box and press Enter:
Regedit
. Now locate the following registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV
. Now in the right panel, right click on Start and then click on Modify
. Type the Value 0 and click OK
. Close registry editor
You can also use a registry repairing tool to fix Windows registry automatically. Choose such a software which also has the feature to ‘defrag’ registry in Windows 7.

Do you have a restore point that predates the installation of the registry cleaner?
