Do you manage your e-mail, or does your e-mail manage you?

Great article, good suggestions. However for me unfortunately I can’t really function without Outlook. I deeply use the calendar, journal, notes and task features of Outlook to maintain my business. Fortunately Outlook has a tonne of features buried under send and receive options. You can set up different mail accounts in different profiles and choose how often to check them, and whether to check them at start up. I have found it very helpful to only check regular email every 1 or 1.5 hours (shock horror!) whereas my alerts email (the something’s gone terribly wrong email) stays at every 5 minutes. Therefore I can open Outlook, get on with my work without interruption unless it’s absolutely necessary.
