I've wondered about those programs - I haven't seen any proven benefit to those, plus they increase my electricity bill and make my fans work harder, wearing them out faster. Otherwise, I might participate in one though. But why do you need to use its' screensaver?
There is no "benefit" per se. All I am doing is donating CPU time to projects I find interesting. Also, you don't
have to use the BOINC SS, the projects will run in the background even if you choose to not run the BOINC SS. The BOINC projects are also customizeable... I don't have my PC run all the time, it sleeps after 20 minutes. Here is the BOINC website, and the list of projects that are available...
