That means that RIM won't be abandoning the Playbook OS anytime in the near future, and it's probable that we'll see updated Playbook hardware in short order - at first it will be the 3G version with 1.5 GHz processor, followed by a slightly larger form factor very late in 2012.

RIM can't catch a break with the media, trashed for not releasing the new features with the first version and trashed for releasing the updates 'too late'.
Funny how people who actually own and use the product actually love it. Why the disconnect with mainstream media on this company, yeah they're not google or apple, so what, do you think those are the only 2 i.t. companies that can survive in this world?

Hi @KLanD,
Ty from RIM here. If the positive response we’re receiving today about PlayBook 2.0 is any indication, I think you’re going to like it when you finally get a chance to try it out. From an enhanced messaging experience that includes the integration of your Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter profiles into a universal inbox, to “Open On,” which allows you to open your documents, photos and links from your BlackBerry smartphone onto your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with one click, there are plenty of reasons to be excited.
In the meantime, check out this new post on our Inside BlackBerry Blog that highlights more of the new features of PlayBook 2.0: http://bbry.lv/yqiDz2.

Hi Ty,
The playbook is definitely a solid piece of hardware. We had a demo unit in our office for a few weeks and out of all the tablets that came across my desk, it was one of my favorites. My only issue was the OS felt incomplete. Now it seems you've completed it (from what I've read). If you've still managed to keep it as smooth and stable it'll be even better now. I think the only negative point you guys have left is the issue of getting more apps. The ones you have are fine and most work really well (I haven't seen what the android offerings are yet), but you need apps that will make you more appealing to both sides. You can get the games from Android, but for business I would love to see some kind of Office suite (forget outlook, I mean powerpoint, word and excel) and Adobe apps.
Anyway I'm rambling on, I'll post what I think when I get my hands on one.
Oh, I know it's probably not sustainable, but with 2.0 and a $199 price point, the playbook is by far the best deal out there.

Hi Ty
We just got new PB and did the OS2.0 update - so although we are iOS and Android honks with lots of iPads, Galaxy Tab 8.9s etc in our enterprise, the PB is engagingly cute I must say.
Shame that you appear to have outsourced support to some non North American country
