If you can do Word tracking with the iOS Word app that will be great.

I don't see how this is news. Office is not new to Apple platforms in general. Office was born on the Mac, was it not? Well at least Word and Excel were along with PowerPoint.

Money is money and Microsoft has pretty much been platform agnostic. They are a software developer.

In 1997, Bill Gates said Microsoft had over 8M users of Office on the Mac. Without Office from Microsoft all other solutions are nothing more than cheap handicaps for those who don't need the full functionality of Office.

There is NO application on the planet 100% compatible with Office. If there were they wouldn't be free as it would require licensing capabilities from Microsoft.

The Office alternatives you all keep listing are junk. WordPad would be just fine along with Office Online.

Those other apps break Office documents if those docs have extended features that are unsupported. If Office comes to iPad andf retain much of its native functions, it would be the first time iOS actually had an application that qualifies to be a real productivity application.

It's news because Office would be a welcome addition to the existing iPad apps, and Microsoft hasn't said that they would be developing Office for iOS. It would also be news if there was an Android version spotted in the wild.

Portablility...Carrying an iPad and AppleTV to do a demonstration is a whole lot easier than lugging around a laptop. If it's a loaner nothing can get mucked up by staff like with what happens with a laptop.

This is an absolute for ipad integrating with today's business environment. Just as long as we get it one time only, and not with MS updates every couple days.
