My new AMD CPU came with nice little heat pipe stock cooler, useless for overclocking its a throw away, so I snapped it on my old slightly OCed PC that has single core with stock cooler and dropped the temp by 24c.

Old one AMD Athlon 64 3400+, single core 89W
Its now 41c at 10% CPU, 50c at 100% CPU

New one AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, 6 cores 125W

Its the same cooler they use for 140w CPUs.

Hmm... if the cooler was designed for 140W CPUs, that would explain why it works so well on the athlon 64.

Yep, their stock 4 pipe cooler is pretty slick - for CPU's in the 90 watt range, they are just about as good as any after market fan anyhow.

I searched the web to see If I could buy that stock cooler by itself. Could not find anything like it.

Also, tho its brand new the fan is noisy cuz it has a whine to it.

What, similar to a budget aftermarket cooler like the Cooler Master TX3 or 212?
