The amount of stupid in your post makes me wonder if you're trolling. I'm leaning towards no.
I've explained it to a thousand idiots already so what's one more. First off..did you even read this article?
Secondly, you're essentially saying that it's ok for developers sell a piece of the finished game as a DLC solely to milk the customer, especially something as crucial as who this party member is and what his story will be. Nobody gives a crap about a $10 DLC as long as it's not something that will affect the story and as long as it was done after release. EA is basically taking this HUGE addition to the games story and selling it off for more profit.
If you're ok with that I'll just go ahead and assume you're a child and your mothers money means nothing to you.
Now I think your the stupid one, Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC was also a $10 DLC which was crucial to the storyline. People who preordered the CE edition of the game were promised a bonus character and mission. Those that did not obviously have to pay for it. Simple.
Way to completely miss the point, dude. Notice the "as long as it was done after release" part in the statement you just called stupid. This is a case of completed content being offered as DLC just to make money. Lair of the Shadow Broker was NOT complete as of Mass Effect 2's launch.

The way I look at it is simple. Mass Effect 3 is about Shepard taking the fight against the Reapers and saving the galaxy, yadda yadda. As supremely epic as this DLC sounds, it is NOT essential for the ME3 storyline. It is however absolutely a must for the lore of the game. But then again, so are the books and comics. So by this logic, should those be free and available with access to the Cerberus Network? I love the Mass Effect series, more than any other game I've played. But the fact of the matter is that this was a very clever marketing move made by EA/BioWare for the hardcore fans to finally get to play/hear/see an actual living Prothean. The negative press is nothing but user created assumptions that the DLC was "cut out" of the original content.
So please save all judgements until you have actually played the game. That's what I'm doing. And if I lose out on $10 getting screwed by EA/BioWare, then that is my own problem for giving my favotite develepors the benefit of the doubt and then, and only then will I worry about continuing my relationship with them as a customer.
If you don't wish to buy the DLC, then don't. It's that easy. And for all the people that I've heard complaining that it's unfair and that the moneys spent on DLC can go towards a meal and such, consider this; This is not an essential part of your life. Video games are a luxury and should be prioritized as such.
I respect your opinion, and no one has to call names or anything. That's just stupid. Cursing someone out on a website won't solve anything. Back to the topic then, I respectively disagree. I personally love bioware, its my second favorite gaming company( Bethesda, whom which I hope to work for in the future). I loved dragon age with a passion. Even dragon age 2 wasn't bad, out of my sheer respect for bioware. Of course I love mass effect, I adore it actually. I've defended bioware so many times, its countless. But, what they did this time is unforgivable. It's not the price, its not the collectors edition price, it's the sheer audacity to do this. I believe out of all the characters, the most important to the story is the prothean's. They are literally 50% of the game. I mean, I love garrus, he is my favorite character like ever( Alistair is close, since I enjoy his trolling attitude). But, a prothean is way more important. What bioware is doing isn't only unfair for people who bought the normal game, but for the collectors edition. Your paying for something that should have been in the game. It should have. You could rationalize this all you want, but if this was made before the game was released, it should have been part of the main story, even a side quest. But, a DLC. That is not fair. Also, what of the people who don't have x box live. THis is just like microsoft twisting your arm and whispering to you "shhhh....you know you want to spend the money and the hours for this"
Thanks for your time. Don't go insulting people because they have a different opinion. It makes you sound like the real idiot.

Lair of the Shadow broker wasen't FINISHED BEFORE THE RELEASE OF THE GAME. It was worked on and completed long, LONG after ME2 was released, and as such I was HAPPY to pay for it. From Ashes is a piece of content that IS complete, now at this very moment, weeks before the release of the final game, just as with the character of Zaeed. However, instead of giving it to us for free and merely using the character as a means of providing incentive to buy new copies of the game as they did with Zaeed, From Ashes will cost you money, on the day of release. This is a Prothean character and it's importance to the story should be readily apparent to any fan of the series, and despite the fact it is finished and has been for some time, BioWare is intentionally WITHHOLDING it from the final product for the sake of extra profit. This. Is. DISGUSTING.
I will, just as I have in the past, *gladly* buy any DLC that BioWare works on and completes after a games release, but any content that is finished and already on the disc before the game is released should be readily available on that disc once purchased.

The game doesn't come out until March 6 in the US, and as of today the only people who've actually gotten the chance to play the game are the people who captured one of the "Dropped from Space" copies. They're the only ones who can actually play the game right now, not the people thinking about boycotting the game.
Here's an idea, how about we hold off on the boycott until the game actually get's released. If it turns out that the prothean squad-mate IS integral to the plot, then we can demand that the DLC should be free rather than a $10 download. If it turns out that the prothean ISN'T integral to the plot then we can all enjoy the game whilst grumbling that while this was still a big PR blunder, we maybe overreacted a bit.
Otherwise, we're just confirming the stereotype that all gamers are just a load of self-righteous, entitled gits who pirate anything they don't want to pay for.

Get over yourselves, this is the most epic and most worth collectors edition to date anyhow, so just shut your mouth and buy it... or dont, but either, quit crying like we care what you have to say.

Look, I'm purchasing the Mass Effect 3 collector's edition, and I get it free. I do wish this was part of the game, but I'm not going to not buy the game just because of that. I have enjoyed the Mass Effect series nonetheless always, and still always will, it's my favorite series next to the Elder Scrolls and Halo.
I'm not an idiot friend, I just adapt.
Please do realize that you will be massively challenged to find a Collector's Edition copy of the game at this point due to being sold out all over unless you want to wait a few weeks after the game comes out. Plus, realize that the original game does not come with this DLC. Many people who do not want to wait will have to shell out an extra $10 for the DLC despite just paying the full price for the game. And even then, if you do wait and get a CE copy, you are paying $80+ even if you don't want all most extra stuff in the first place.
It makes me sad to see people give in so easily to things like this.
I'm so sick of people saying "wah they took part of the finished game out and turned it into DLC" STFU it's NOT part of the game nor was it ever part of the game. The game has been completed for months. The DLC pack was created after the fact and they're charging us for it just like any other DLC pack for any other game that has ever come out... PERIOD. The fact that they are offering it to us for free at all is awesome. Any TRUE fan of this game series has already preordered their collectors edition anyway so its a moot point.
This CE is BY FAR the most worthwhile CE that I've seen in a very long time, if not ever, and is more than worth the extra mere $20.
So you know what, go ahead and cancel your preorder you pansies and allow the people who matter to get a copy if they may have missed it. And have fun being the only schmucks around NOT cruising the galaxy with Shepard and Company.

I would like to point out, again, that the From Ashes DLC was produced AFTER Mass Effect 3. Bioware did not finish ME3 in february, if that were the case we would be waiting until Apri or May for the game to be shipped to everywhere. It takes time for a game company to take a finished game, make millions of copies of it, and then ship it out. Before you and other people make judgements, you should really learn about the gaming industry and how it works.
Even IF Bioware is lying and they removed the DLC from the game, I wouldn't give a crap. The Mass Effect series is what made me decide to pursue a job in the gaming industry, and I think Bioware deserves all of my money for about 88% of the games they create. Besides, if you were a true Mass Effect fan, you would be getting the collectors edition. =P

Or if you were smart you pre-ordered the collectors edition and don't have to worry either way.
