Also, for what it is worth, it appears that the current implementation of USB 3.0 in Linux is still riddled with bugs. Such as the bugs that won't let Linux boot from USB 3, or suspend/sleep. Yep, that sure seems preferable... and certainly explains a lot.
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'" -- Isaac Asimov

The only link in this thread is to a PCWorld article ( PCWorld.com ) and that is certainly allowed.

You contradicted yourself here. Again, there are NO USB 3.0 drivers in Windows 7, they have to come from the manufacturer's Driver's Disk for the Motherboard. Yeah, Linux may well rule out the motherboard........maybe, IF the drivers are bad, which is highly unlikely with EVGA, if that is the MOBO he has. As wj stated, they do have a top shelf support group.
There are times that drivers get corrupted. I had that happen to a customer and install linux for him as dual boot. Last time I talk to him, he mentiond that he used linux more now than windows.

I have not had any problems with Linux and USB 3.0. I have installed it and used it on several machines right now.
Windows 8 is a useless OS that Microsoft released that has many flaws and bugs. DO NOT USE IT. Use Windows XP or Windows 7.
