"Marking Is King" or could you have meant "Marketing Is King".. Possibly even "Proof Reading Is King" :)

I guess I am now way behind the curve of technology. Explain to me why radio and modulation is tied to the CPU of a cell phone?

If AT&T wants to have "The Fastest Network" again, why don't they release a real 4G network instead of this pseudo 4G sham?

I don't understand? They have released the same network as Verizon, except it is performing faster in tests. As of now they have the fastest 4G network in the country. I think they are about on par with Verizon since Verizon is more available but not quite as fast.

So AT&T is sacrificing a superior phone in an attempt to save face on an inferior network?

Note that benchmarks (even multithreaded benchmarks) of the S4 dual-core system have shown it to be faster than the Tegra 3 4+1 system in many situations. Many people would actually prefer the S4.

The standards for IMT-Advanced, also known as 4G, as defined by the governing body (International Telecommunications Union) are currently not met by any US mobile carrier.

It's because the cell, bluetooth, and wifi radios along with the CPU and GPU for mobile devices are all on one chip called a System On a Chip (SOC). Nvidia doesn't currently have a quad core SOC that contains an LTE radio (that I am aware of anyway).

Personally, I prefer Qualcomm's S4 dual core over Nvidia's quad core anyway, especially given recent benchmark results: http://www.gsmarena....e-news-3860.php

Yeah come on PCWorld, it's been known for a while that the s4 is quicker than tegra 3 and has comparable graphics as it shares traits from the upcoming a15 architecture instead of just a bunch of a9 cores. Don't fall for that 'the more cores the better' marketing stuff.

Basically, it's because the processor in a smartphone is not, strictly speaking, a CPU. It's a System on a Chip (SOC) which includes the CUP, the RAM, the Video card, and the Radio. and the Tegra 3 SOC, while an absolute winner, does not have a radio compatible with AT&T's particular brand of so-called 4g. So, rather than just waiting a few months for a newer Tegra 3 with a different radio in it, AT&T decided instead to kneecap the phone so it could have it available right at launch.

AT&T is currently building a 4G LTE network. However, their "4G" HSPA+ network is plenty fast here in Wisconsin.

For now, the benefits of a quad core would be the superior battery life due to the 5th core handling many tasks that don't require the horsepower.

I don't understand why HTC needed to release this phone now. Without the quad core, it's not much different from every other phone out there. In a world where "Marketing is King", the failure of this phone in the US might take the wind out of the sales for their quad core next generation phone, just as other manufacturers start coming out with their quad cores.

I think HTC should have waited, built up the momentum with strong marketing, then released the quad core version in a few months.

Why the push for faster network speeds? 4G LTE just means you'll use your data faster and the carriers will make more money off you!

4G is defined as having a download speed of 100 megabits on mobile devices, and 10 megabits doesn't quite meet the specifications to be qualified as 4G.
