Whenever I plug an Ethernet cable into my laptop, the LAN icon in my system tray says that there is a network cable unplugged, even though my computer says that my Ethernet card is working properly.

What exactly is the problem? Can you get online?

Does plugging in the RJ45 knock you off the LAN?

Are you using a LAN?

I'm using wireless and I have that set to disable when an Ethernet connection is detected.
