I recently Relocated my Linksys 610N wireless Router. The old location was in my cellar on the farthest end of my cellar wall(away from any electronic devices. I Sinced moved it to almost center of my house still in cellar. One problem I was running in to was how do i connect my 2 wired desktops which are located under old location of router. Now the wireless is about 30ft. away. I currently run 2 50 ft. shielded Cat6a cables one going from cable modem to router and other going from router to Gigaport switch. The switch is connected to my 2 desktop computers. I tryed to figure out if I should buy a firewall or leave it the way i currently have it.
Here is the product list Like written earlyer I have Linksys 610N Wireless router, Netgear Gs105 Switch, a Windows 7 Desktop and Linux Ubuntu 11.10 server. Money is an issue with this project however if the price is right and worth it I'm all for going ahead the question I have is it worth it and what should I buy?

Why do you need a firewall? The router has one built in. If an ethernet switch is the most convenient way to connect things, do it. Fyi, you don't need cat6a, cat5e and cat6 are fine for gigabit.
