Got to System Preferences either by way of the Apple Menu in the upper left corner or by clicking the icon with the gear on it on the Dock.
In System Preferences there should be a Desktop & Screensaver item that will then allow you to change the desktop using either some "premade" ones or any picture that you have. You can even set it to change the desktop picture automatically every once and a while if you want.

The point is that if you want to change the desktop image (which is what the original poster seems to be asking how to do), then you don't need a third party app for that. The Mac OS has had the ability to change the desktop picture to a bunch of other "pre-supplied" pictures or ANY picture you want (that you took yourself or that you find on the Internet) for a long time...and you can even have it rotate among various pictures at some timed interval.
Those apps listed in the post that you linked to are image editor/viewer programs, which won't change what is used for the desktop picture in and of themselves. They could be used to edit a picture that you then set as the desktop by using the System Preferences.

Hi! Thanks to everyone for help and sorry to confuse you. I was looking for an app that would contain like a 'library' of high-res pictures to use them for the desktop.

You can do a google images search for wallpaper and set it to only show high res images, for instance.

Oh, thank you for advice!
I also found an app Pimp Your Screen, but only for iPhone.
