I quite like this re-branding, and the discounted products are excellent, although I do feel like I am taking advantage of this too much...

Also, I hope that along with this Google launches pre-paid cards similar to what Apple does with iTunes--which happens to be one of the few things I like about Apple's devices and services.

I just tried to use the android market and was asked to agree to new terms and conditions. The news terms are totally evil, giving google the right to cut you off for no reason with no rights on your side. I declined the contract and now cannot see any apps on google market. Google, what happened to "do no evil?"

I think this is the next step Google will take. Google already has pre paid card for Google Wallet.

Nobody reads that nonsense. J\K
Actually no one does. Privacy issues raised by congress + new privacy policies = new policies.
Put Your eggs in all one basket, in my case my work ties me to Microsoft and Linux.
I have a Cell Phone, it's called an LG Rumor, runs java hasn't been hacked or had malware
and has been the greatest dumb phones I have ever had.
My employer has offerred me a Droid, Iphone and WP7, I have declined all.
What I have is more than adequate. Texting, Email, limited web browsing, Facebook, Tweeter and IM.
And I have not spent one penny on overages to my employer(and I am the only one that hasn't).
To hell with all the bandwidth hogging smartphones, just give me a phone that never drops calls or lasts at least than a week on a charge, which mine does and you'll have me sold!

I like "Android Market" better than "Google Play" but when all is said and done, it doesn't really affect my life one way or another.

At least Google can figure out they have a marketable brand name to captialize on, rather than throw out, a la NetFlix wanting to rebrand itself into obscurity with whatever it was, Flix$ter, Money$ter, WeDontHaveThatAnymorePayUsMore$ter?

Are you trying to access the market from the Desktop, or from the App Drawer?

I really dislike the new name. I think it will confuse people more as to what Google "Play" is. They should have stuck with Android Market or come up a better branding name.

I also agree that Google should offer gift cards. I know one can buy a generic visa or mc gift card to use to buy apps, but I think having a branded card available would be better.

Well, it sucks... My wallet account is UK with a UK credit card, but while I'm in China, I'm restricted to viewing only free apps and no other content... At least Apple's implementation of a market place is based on where your credit card is issued. -1, Google!
