Exorcise The Ghost In Control Panel?

Hi
I have "VIA HD Audio Deck" in control panel, its a remnant of old audio hardware that I dont have anymore. Onboard audio is disabled in bios, but this VIA thing is not related to current bios.

How do I delete this thing from control panel?

Nope
VIA is a device, but its on the old motherboard, this new motherboard does not have that.
VIA is there because I used an image of C drive of old PC when I built new PC. That way I dont have to spent a week updating and adding and tweaking the stuff I want.

The Motherboards Are Not The Exact Same Model, Right ?

By My Experience, If You Change Motherboards, Without Reinstalling The OS, You May Be In A Big BSOD Trouble, Sooner Or Later.

You might have to live with that "ghost" then. Since this is your preferred method on moving the OS I would recommend (for the next time) that you go into Device Manager and delete/uninstall every device you possibly can prior to pulling the HDD.

VIA is basically control panel short cut to something that does not exist. All I have to do is find the shortcut and remove it.

I will find a way.

You need to find the *.cpl file that is for VIA HD Audio Deck. Once you find it and remove it, it will be gone.

Windows 8 is a useless OS that Microsoft released that has many flaws and bugs. DO NOT USE IT. Use Windows XP or Windows 7.

1. rite click on VIA in control panel, make desktop shortcut to it.
2. rite click on shortcut, choose properties, "VIAHD.cpl"
3. search C drive for VIAHD.cpl, found in system32
4. select VIAHD.cpl delete it.

The ghost of device past has been exorcised.

That's why I suggested doing a search for that thing using Windows Explorer. If there was anyhting there it should have come up if you configured it to search all hidden files as well.
